Meet Sean Scarbrough, our newest Great Steps O&P Practitioner

Great Steps newest practitioner, Sean Scarbrough, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication, which led him to into the marketing field. He wanted a career that was hands-on and that would improve peoples’ lives. Unfortunately, his marketing career did not allow him to use those qualities in the way that he desired.  The revolutionary Myo Electric Prosthetic Hand inspired Sean to change his career. He worked at O&P 1, an orthotic fabrication company, for the next two years and knew that the Orthotics and Prosthetics business was the right career field for him. In 2002, Sean applied to Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota and was accepted to their Orthotics & Prosthetics program. Sean completed a two-year residency at Genesis Quad Cities Family Medicine in Iowa and a prosthetic residency in Chicago. Soon after he completed his residencies, Sean joined the Hanger team as a practitioner and manager in 2005. Sean moved his career to Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics as a practitioner from 2010 to 2012. Currently, Sean is enjoying his career at Great Steps O&P as a CP/Orthotist.  “We are incredibly grateful to have Sean as a part of the Great Steps O&P team.  He offers great value to the company” states company President, John Held.

Some of Sean’s competencies include his fast knowledge of the Micro Processor knees and feet which includes the C-Leg, Plie, Rheo/Symbionic Systems, Orion and Echelon.  He also enjoys working with rehabilitation, spine, healthcare management, physical therapy and sports medicine. He truly has a passion for the orthotics and prosthetics field and what he loves most about his job is that he can improve his patients’ quality of life. When he isn’t working at Great Steps O&P, you can find him watching or playing sports and fishing. Sean is very close to his family. He has four daughters that are the ages of 18, 15, 10, and 9 that keep him busy!

Next time you are at Great Steps O&P, say hello to Sean!
